Private tutor in North Andover, MA
Clark University - BS, Molecular Biology , Salem State University - MA, MAT Biology
I earned my bachelor's degree at Clark University and then spent time at University of Massachusetts Medical before becoming a full-time scientist. I then worked for seven years in laboratories of biotechnology startups around the Boston area that were trying to solve major medical problems. The part of those jobs I enjoyed most was teaching people what our research was accomplishing. This led me to return to school and get my master's degree in Education at Salem State University. Over the past three years, I have worked as a Biology teacher and also covered Chemistry, Ecology, Evolution, and preparation for college admission and AP tests. During that time, I have also gotten experience tutoring in all of those fields, as well as Algebra and Pre-Calculus. I have noticed that many students find science difficult because they can't see the relation of complex topics to the real world. As a tutor, I connect the material to them in a way that makes sense. I also instill great organizational and study skills that can be applied in any field they choose to study. I also like to keep my lessons fun and not take things too seriously. In my free time, I enjoy playing and recording music, movies, blogging, skiing, and running.
